Ligue 1

Ligue 1 is the top professional football (soccer) league in France. It is one of the country’s premier sports leagues and is considered one of the top leagues in European football. Ligue 1 features a selection of the best teams in French football, including historically significant clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Olympique de Marseille, and AS Monaco.

The league operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Ligue 2, the second tier of French football. Typically, the season runs from August to May, with teams playing a total of 38 matches each, facing each other twice (home and away). The team with the most points at the end of the season is crowned the champion.

Ligue 1 is known for producing and showcasing a variety of talented players and has a strong reputation for its competitive nature, development of young talent, and its role in European football. Additionally, the league is governed by the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), which oversees the administration and organization of the league and its clubs.
