Soccer

Soccer, known as football in most countries outside North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a ball into the opposing team’s net primarily using any part of the body except the arms and hands, with the exception of goalkeepers who may use their hands within the penalty area. The game is played on a rectangular field, commonly known as a pitch, with a goal at each end.

Soccer is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, which are maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The sport is played at both amateur and professional levels and is the world’s most popular sport, with millions of players and fans globally. Major international competitions, such as the FIFA World Cup, bring together national teams from around the world, showcasing the sport’s universal appeal. Soccer promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and strategic thinking and is played in various formats, including indoor and beach soccer.
