Football

Football, commonly referred to as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players using a spherical ball. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting the ball into the opposing team’s net. The game is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end. Players primarily use their feet to control and pass the ball, but can use any part of their body except for the hands and arms; only the goalkeepers are allowed to handle the ball within their penalty area.

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The sport is popular worldwide, with professional leagues in many countries, and it culminates in prestigious tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup. Football emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and skill, making it one of the most widely followed and played sports globally.
